Dhaka: A mobile court in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari has seized 40 sacks of fertiliser and fined a BCIC fertiliser dealer Tk 40,000 for selling fertilizer outside his designated area. The operation was carried out at the fertiliser dealership point of Chicken Market in Goalanda Bazar on Wednesday afternoon.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the mobile court was led by Goalanda Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Muntasir Hasan Khan, who imposed the fine on the dealer. Upazila Agriculture Officer Syed Raihanul Haider was present during the drive, ensuring the lawful execution of the operation.
The incident occurred when the fertiliser was being transported from Goalanda to Khan Khanapur area of Rajbari Sadar upazila, intended for sale outside its designated area. The authorities intercepted the consignment at Bhagulpur during their drive. The seized fertilizer was subsequently ordered to be sold among farmers within the designated area under specified conditions, ensuring compliance with local distribution regulations.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Syed Raihanul Haider stated that the agriculture department is actively conducting regular monitoring to ensure that farmers receive fertilizer at fair prices through government-appointed dealers. This initiative aims to prevent unauthorized sales and maintain fair distribution practices.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Muntasir Hasan Khan emphasized that the dealer was obligated to distribute and sell fertilizer solely among farmers in the Daulatdia area, as per the designated guidelines. The enforcement of these regulations is crucial to maintaining equitable access to agricultural resources for local farmers.
