Narail: The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has launched an incentive programme to support Aush paddy cultivation among small and marginal farmers in the district. Under the initiative, a total of 3,900 farmers in Sadar upazila will receive seeds and fertilizers to boost production during the Kharif-1 season of the 2025-26 fiscal. Distribution of the incentives began on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 1,520 farmers have already received the incentives at the inaugural ceremony while the remaining farmers are expected to receive their share within the next two days, as confirmed by the authorities. Each farmer is being provided with five kilograms of high-yielding Aush paddy seed, 10 kilograms of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land.
The programme was inaugurated at the Narail Sadar Upazila Agriculture Office, with Upazila Nirbahi Officer T M Rahsin Kabir presiding. Local lawmaker Md. Ataur Rahman Bachchu attended as the chief guest, accompanied by agriculture officials including Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Rokonuzzaman. Officials stated that the initiative aims to expand Aush cultivation and increase overall production in the district.
