379,924 Postal Ballots of Expatriates Reach Bangladesh

Dhaka: A total of 379,924 postal ballots sent by expatriate voters registered through the “Postal Vote BD” app have so far reached Bangladesh for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election and referendum. OCV-SDI project team leader on expatriate voter registration, Salim Ahmad Khan, shared this information with BSS today, highlighting the ongoing postal voting process for expatriate voters.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, as of 9:30 am this morning, a total of 766,862 ballots have been sent to expatriates registered through the app. Among them, 526,008 expatriates have received their ballots, and 480,416 have already cast their votes. Additionally, 444,952 expatriate voters have submitted their ballots to the post offices or postal departments of their respective countries. Out of these, returning officers have so far received 107,168 ballots.



The Election Commission (EC) has also initiated the distribution of postal ballots to domestic voters under the ICPV. To date, ballots have been dispatched to 662,191 registered voters residing within the country. The latest EC data reveals that 260,447 domestic voters have received their ballots, with 211,122 having cast their votes. Furthermore, 168,519 voters have submitted their ballots to post offices or mailboxes, and returning officers have received 27,367 of these ballots.



Salim Ahmad Khan disclosed that a total of 1,533,684 voters, both at home and abroad, have registered through the app to cast their votes by postal ballot in the forthcoming 13th JS election and referendum.
