Rajbari: Police today filed a case against 3,500 unidentified people in connection with Friday’s attack on the shrine of Nurul Haque, locally known as “Nural Pagla,” at Goalond Upazila in Rajbari district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sub Inspector (SI) Selim Molla filed the case as the complainant against 3,000 to 3,500 unidentified people with Goalandghat Police Station early today. Inspector (Investigation) Rashidul Islam, who is also the investigation officer of the case, confirmed the filing of the case and elaborated on the charges. He stated that all the accused have been charged with obstructing police from performing their government duty, vandalizing government property, and arson.

During the chaos, two police vehicles were vandalized, Inspector Rashidul Islam reported. He further mentioned that no arrests have been made yet, but authorities are actively pursuing the suspects. The police are working to identify the accused individuals using video footage from the scene and the surrounding areas.

The incident on Friday saw hundreds of people attacking the “Darbar Sharif” of Nural Pagla. The mob exhumed the body of Nurul Haque from the grave and set it on fire. Despite the severity of the situation, the police inspector noted that no murder case has been filed, even though one person was killed during the sporadic clashes.
