Dhaka: Three new RMG factories in Bangladesh have received LEED certification, highlighting the country’s commitment to environmental sustainability in the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector. The newly certified factories include Tasniah Fabrics Ltd. Admin Building and Tasniah Fabrics Ltd. RMG Building, both located in Nayapaya, Kashimpur, Gazipur, and Comfit Golden Leaf in Gorai, Mirzapur, Tangail, Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this addition brings the total number of LEED Certified Factories in Bangladesh to 243, with 101 achieving Platinum status and 128 obtaining Gold certification. Notably, Bangladesh now boasts 68 of the top 100 highest-rated LEED Certified Factories globally.
Industry insiders regard this as a significant development for Bangladesh, reflecting its dedication to sustainable practices in the RMG sector. Tasniah Fabrics Ltd. Admin Building has become the highest-rated LEED Certified factory worldwide, scoring an unprecedented 107 points under the LEED v4 rating system, surpassing the previous leader, S.M. Sourcing, which had 106 points.
Mohiuddin Rubel, former Director of BGMEA and Additional Managing Director of Denim Expert Ltd, expressed to BSS that this achievement positions Bangladesh at the forefront of sustainable industrial practices globally. Rubel highlighted the strategic shift within the RMG industry towards green growth, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible manufacturing.
He emphasized the innovative leadership of Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and how this accomplishment reinforces the country’s status as a responsible sourcing destination. As global focus intensifies on ESG performance and sustainability, Rubel noted that this milestone enhances Bangladesh’s international image, opens new market opportunities, and sets a benchmark for green building excellence across industries.
