Sundarbans: Forest guards have detained three fishermen along with a trawler for illegally catching fish in the Alorkol area of the eastern Sundarbans on Monday. The arrested fishermen were identified as Ashraf Ali Molla, Md Shahid, and Md Saghir, all residents of Char Duani village under Patharghata Upazila of Barguna.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a patrol team from the Dublarchar Forest Outpost and the Sharankhola Smart Patrolling Unit conducted a raid in the Moronchar area under the Alorkol Outpost this morning. The operation resulted in the seizure of 250 hilsa fish, a 300-meter-long fishing net, and other fishing equipment.

Sharankhola Range Officer (ACF) Rana Dev confirmed the seizure, emphasizing the commitment of forest officials to protect the biodiversity of the Sundarbans. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to curb illegal fishing activities that threaten the ecological balance of the region.
