Faridpur: The district administration has seized 28,000 liters of fuel from two filling stations in Faridpur’s Sadar upazila, following reports that the stations had suspended sales due to alleged fuel shortages.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operations were conducted on Saturday afternoon after complaints emerged about Hossain Filling Station at Kanaipur Bazar on the Faridpur-Khulna highway. The station had reportedly stopped supplying fuel and displayed a sign stating “No Oil.”

During the raid, officials unearthed a large stockpile of fuel at Hossain Filling Station, including 7,000 liters of petrol, 6,500 liters of octane, and 14,500 liters of diesel. The station was subsequently fined Taka 50,000 by a mobile court for misleading consumers and withholding supplies. Station manager Sabir Chowdhury admitted the malpractice and pleaded for forgiveness. Authorities have directed the station to resume operations immediately, ensuring fuel availability for buses, trucks, agricultural users, and private vehicles.

On the same day, a similar enforcement action was taken at Royal Filling Station in the Kanaipur area. While the station was only dispensing diesel at the time, officials discovered 3,500 liters of petrol, 3,400 liters of octane, and 19,000 liters of diesel in storage. The station’s owner and manager attributed the lack of petrol and octane sales to mechanical issues and apologized for the inconvenience. They have been instructed to promptly restore full fuel services.

The enforcement operations were led by Faridpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Meshkatul Jannat Rabeya, along with Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Shafiqul Islam and other officials. The authorities have emphasized that similar inspections will continue across all petrol pumps in the district to prevent irregularities and ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply to consumers.
