Dhaka: International Justice Mission (IJM) Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Department of Social Services (DSS), successfully concluded a three-day training program on victim support services and management for 25 caregivers of the Child Development Centre (Girls) in Konabari, Gazipur. The training, aimed at enhancing the caregivers' skills and knowledge, wrapped up on Thursday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the training focused on improving the caregivers' understanding of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC), empowering them to identify victims and provide better support. This initiative was part of a strategic partnership between IJM Bangladesh and the DSS to bolster victim support services.
The closing ceremony saw the attendance of DSS Director (Institution) Mohd Kamruzzaman as the chief guest. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management) of Gazipur, Tania Tabassum, along with IJM Bangladesh Country Director Claire Wilkinson, were present as special guests.
Participants of the training included social case workers, counsellors, assistant teachers, trade instructors, embroidery instructors, computer instructors, child protection social workers, psychiatric social workers, psychosocial counsellors, medical assistants, probation officers, nurses, and junior physical instructors from the Konabari Child Development Centre.
IJM Bangladesh plans to extend its activities across 11 districts within the Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Mymensingh divisions, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat CSEC and improve victim support services.
