Tangail: At least 22 people were injured in a head-on collision between two passenger buses in Ghatail upazila of the district this morning. The accident took place around 8 am at Haripur on the Tangail-Mymensingh Highway. The injured were promptly rescued and admitted to Ghatail Upazila Health Complex and Tangail General Hospital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, some of the injured are in critical condition. The accident might have been caused by dense fog affecting visibility on the highway. Police and eyewitnesses reported that a passenger bus of Baniya Paribahan collided head-on with another bus of Mymensingh-bound Prantik Paribahan, resulting in injuries to 22 passengers from both vehicles.
One individual has been transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Ghatail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mokchedur Rahman confirmed the incident and the ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision.
