Dhaka: Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman today said completing six months in office and running the country normally despite a fragile economy and disorder inherited from the previous government is itself a major achievement for the current government. 'Today marks 180 days of the present government. Despite the mess and fragile situation left behind by the previous government, the fact that the present government has been able to run the country normally is a great achievement for us,' he said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ruman made the remarks in his welcome address at a views-exchange at the 'Shapla' Hall of the Prime Minister's Tejgaon Office this noon, marking the government's completion of six months in office. Prime Minister's Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly chaired the event while Prime Minister's advisers Nazrul Islam Khan, Md Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Md Ismail Zabihullah, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon and Prime Minister's Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman also spoke.
The ministers and advisers answered various questions from journalists at the meeting, providing insights into the government's strategies and future plans. State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury, and Adviser for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir were among those present. Additionally, Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Health Affairs S M Ziauddin Hyder and SDG Chief Coordinator Professor SM Abdul Awal were in attendance.
The event saw a gathering of key figures from the government and media, including Prime Minister's Political Assistant Rashed Khan, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana, and Principal Information Officer (PIO) Syed Abdal Ahmed. Also present were Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) General Secretary Khurshid Alam, and Managing Director of the Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust Mohammad Abdul Basir (Basir Jamal). The Prime Minister's Speech Writer Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Press Secretaries Jahidul Islam Rony, Md. Suzauddhowla and Shahadat Shadhin, and Assistant Press Secretaries Asrofa Emdad, KM Nazmul Haque and Abdullah Al Mahmud Shahriar also attended the programme.
