Dhaka: A total of 17 senior police officials including 16 Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) of police were sent on retirement today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a notification signed by the Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry, Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, stated that the government decided to retire these officials under section 45 of the Government Service Rule-2018 in the interest of the public.
Those affected by this decision include prominent figures such as DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Unit Mofiz Uddin Ahmed, DIG Highway Police Imtiaz Ahmed, and DIG Criminal Investigation Department Md Habibur Rahman. Others on the list are DIGs attached to various departments including the Police Headquarters, the National Security Intelligence, Police Staff College, and multiple Police Training Centres across the country.
The notification clarified that all 17 officials, including Additional DIG of Railway Police Farhat Ahmed, will be entitled to their retirement benefits in accordance with the law.
