A total of 154 more undocumented Bangladeshi

migrants were repatriated to the country from Libya today.

The repatriation was conducted under a coordinated effort by the foreign

ministry, Bangladesh mission in Tripoli and the International Organization

for Migration (IOM), a foreign ministry’s press release said here.

The returnees arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in

Dhaka at 7am boarding a chartered flight of Buraq Air.

As part of the repatriation process, IOM provided each individual with Taka

6,000 in cash, some food supplies, medical care and temporary accommodation.

Upon arrival at the HSIA, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and

IOM were present to receive and assist the returnees.

This repatriation is part of an ongoing effort by the Bangladesh government

and IOM to bring home Bangladeshi nationals who have been stranded in Libya

without legal documents.

The foreign ministry here in collaboration with the Bangladesh Embassy in

Tripoli has been working
closely with IOM to ensure the safe and dignified

return of these vulnerable individuals, the release added.
