Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have
arrested 15 transport extortionists including Fazle Rabbi, the mastermind of
the extortion gang, from Jatrabari Police Station in the capital.
The arrested are Fazle Rabbi, 25, Md. Raz, 23, Sabbir Ahmed, 19, Md. Faisal,
21, Md. Sanoar Hossain Ontor, 25, Tajul Islam Taj, 19, Md. Rakib, 19, Arif
Ahmed, 19, Md. Ashabuddin, 33, Md. Shahin, 19, Md. Shawon, 19, Md. Mehedi
Hasan, 19, Md. Belal, 40, Golam Rabbi, 20 and Jahidul Islam Sabbir, 19, M.J.
Sohel, assistant superintend of police and assistant director (Media) of RAB-
10, told BSS today.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the RAB-10 conducted separate drives in
Kutubkhali, Kazla Bridge and Jatrabari circle areas under Jatrabari Police
Station in the city and nabbed them on Saturday, the RAB official said.
The RAB also recovered extortion money worth Taka 7,000 and four wooden
sticks from their possession.
Necessary legal action has been taken against them and they have been handed
over to respective pol
ice stations.
