Patuakhali: A mobile court seized 1400 kg of jatka (hilsa fries) during a raid on six Dhaka-bound buses at the Kalapara Chowrasta bus stand in the district last night. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Executive Magistrate and Kalapara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land), Md. Yasin Sadek.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the mobile court imposed fines of Tk 12,000 on each of the bus drivers involved in the transportation of the hilsa fries. The action is part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal transport and sale of jatka, which is crucial for the conservation of hilsa fish populations.
Following the seizure, the confiscated jatka was distributed among students of local orphanages and 30 sanitation workers of Kalapara municipality. Md. Yasin Sadek confirmed the distribution, emphasizing the importance of supporting community members while enforcing regulations.
