Chapainawabganj: A total of 126 ethnic minority youths received income-generating instruments after need-based training on various trades to make them self-reliant at Bhagrail Bazar under Nachole Upazila of Chapainawabganj district today. The initiative aims to empower these youths by providing them with the tools needed to pursue trades such as electrical work, hair cutting, tailoring, block boutique, and embroidery.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was organized by the Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-economic Development Organisation (ASSEDO) under its MUKTEE Project, supported by Traidcraft Exchange. The project seeks to support ethnic minority communities by equipping them with skills and resources to improve their economic standing.

ASSEDO Executive Director Rabiul Alam highlighted the impact of the MUKTEE Project, stating that around 4,000 ethnic minority individuals, including 2,000 women, have benefited from income-generating activities in 30 villages across Tanore Upazila in Rajshahi and Nachole Upazila in Chapainawabganj districts.

The event was attended by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Razia Sultana and other officials, who underscored the project’s importance for community development. Shafiqul Islam, Union Parishad chairman, emphasized that the project not only aims to improve livelihoods but also seeks to eliminate child labor among marginalized communities.
