1,200 farmers get incentive for Aush farming in Joypurhat

A total of 1,200 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila were given seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agro incentive under the Agriculture Incentive Programme for the cultivation of Aush paddy in the current Kharif season.

The amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the current financial year 2022-23 in the district, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said.

Member of Parliament of Joypurhat-1 constituency Advocate Shamsul Alam Dudu inaugurates the distribution function at the upazila parishad auditorium and handed over the incentive among the farmers as the chief guest this morning with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Arafat Hossain in the chair.

Sadar Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Ashok Kumar Thakur, Women Vice-Chairman Farhana Rahman Bithi, Mohammadabad Union Parishad Chairman Ataur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Kaiser Iqbal, among others, spoke as the special guests.

Under the programme, each farmer received five kilograms of high yielding variety of Aush paddy seeds, 10-kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers and 10-kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizers free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land.
