Dhaka: Bandarban Municipality has initiated the distribution of umbrellas to 1,000 underprivileged students across 15 schools as part of its rural infrastructure and protection program. Municipality Administrator S.M. Manjurul Haque launched the program as the chief guest during a function at Bandarban Government High School.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Manjurul Haque emphasized the importance of education in his address, encouraging students to focus on their studies and contribute to building a prosperous Bangladesh. He also mentioned plans to introduce scholarship programs for student welfare in the future.
The event saw participation from key figures including Head Teacher Muhammad Sirajul Islam, Assistant Head Teacher Sampad Barua, Municipality Administrative Officer Karuna Kanti Barua, and Accounting Officer Md Nurul Amin Chowdhury, along with teachers and students.
Municipal sources revealed that this umbrella distribution is part of a broader initiative, following the installation of water filters in 10 schools to provide safe drinking water.
