Dhaka: Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today stated that 10 lakh employment opportunities will be created in the country’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in the next five years. He emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing an integrated action plan aimed at making the telecommunication sector modern, investment-friendly, and future-oriented.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks as the chief guest at a roundtable titled “Future of the Telecom Sector: What is the Thinking of the New Government,” held at Hotel InterContinental in the capital. The event was organized by the Telecom and Technology Reporters Network Bangladesh (TRNB).
The ICT minister highlighted that the government is working on a priority basis to ensure fast internet and technology services reach remote areas to reduce the digital divide. He pointed out that initiatives such as setting up free Wi-Fi zones in different areas, expanding telecom infrastructure, and creating technology-based employment are among the key objectives of the government.
