Dhaka: Ten students from various departments for the 2023-2024 academic year at Dhaka University have been awarded the 'Md Nurul Islam Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship' for their exceptional academic performance. University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan presented the scholarship cheques to the students during a ceremony held at the Fourth Class Employee Union office yesterday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the University's Fourth Class Employee Union, with the Treasurer, Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, presiding over the proceedings. The ceremony was also attended by Pro VC Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha and acting registrar Munsi Shams Uddin Ahmed, among others.
The scholarship recipients include Md Mehedi Hasan from the Bangla Department, Ariful Islam Rimon from the English Department, Md Uday Bhuiyan from the Management Department, Md Siam Afreedi from the Accounting and Information System Department, Md Kalim Ullah from the Finance Department, Sumaiya Rahman from the Organization Strategy and Leadership Department, Rumana Alam Nishi from the Economic Department, Iffat Zerin Parisa from the International Relation Department, Afrin Jahan Payel from the Public Administration Department, and Afsana Mim from the Education and Research Institute.
It is noteworthy that the late Md Nurul Islam was the founding president of the Fourth Class Employee Union at Dhaka University.
