Rangamati: The 10-day Baishakhi Fair has officially begun at Majherbosti in Rangamati, celebrating both the ‘Boisabi Utsab’ and Pahela Boishakh, the first day of the Bengali calendar’s Boishakh month. The fair is recognized as the largest traditional event in the hill regions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inauguration was marked by the release of colorful balloons at Shah ML High School premises by Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun, the Rangamati chamber of commerce and industry president and BNP’s district unit general secretary. The fair features 80 shops showcasing cottage and handicraft items, exquisite house decoration goods, a variety of delicious foods, and traditional clothing.
The fair, which will conclude on April 14, offers a festive atmosphere with various exciting rides, including a whirligig, designed to entertain children. The organizing committee has planned additional events for the following day, featuring a traditional Mangal Shobhayatra, a Panta Bhat festival highlighting traditional cuisine, and a vibrant cultural program that includes a band show.
Local dignitaries and members of the fair organizing committee attended the festival’s inaugural ceremony, marking the beginning of this significant cultural event in the region.
