’Walton adds new dimension to technology research, innovation’

The sustainable development of any country or organisation requires the application of talent and skills, along with labour, according to experts.

The research and innovation (R&I) strength measures the capabilities of the production-oriented industry, and Walton has added new dimensions to technology research, development and innovation in Bangladesh, they said.

The experts made the remarks recently while addressing the day-long “Research and Innovation Summit 2021” held in Gazipur.

The summit was arranged to highlight Walton’s research and innovative activities, share knowledge and showcase advanced features of products such as smart refrigerator, smart air conditioner, smart television, washing machine, compressor, blender, mixer grinder, gas stove, and rice cooker, according to a media statement.

Educationalists, technology researchers and around 1,000 expert engineers attended the summit.

Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Mohammad Kaykobad, distinguished professor of the computer science and engineering department of the Brac University; Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited (WHIL) Vice-Chairman SM Shamsul Alam, WHIL Managing Director and CEO Golam Murshed inaugurated the summit.

Zafar Iqbal said, “I have dreamed all my life that there would be a full-fledged research and innovation centre in Bangladesh. The dream has been fulfilled today through Walton. There are challenges in research and innovation. However, Walton’s young and talented engineers are working on that. They are the future of Bangladesh.”

Mohammad Kaykobad said, “Walton has created job opportunities for the country’s talented engineers. The engineers and science students are now getting opportunities to use and apply their skills.”
