T20 World Cup: Bangladesh to bat first vs Sri Lanka

Bangladesh lost the toss in their first match in the Super 12s of the T20 World Cup and were sent to bat first against Sri Lanka on Sunday at Sharjah.

Nasum Ahmed has been added to the playing XI in this match. It will be marked as his debut in the World Cup. The left-arm spinner played superbly well against Australia and New Zealand recently at home.

In those series, he bagged a total of 16 wickets— eight against Australia and eight against New Zealand.

To pave a way for Nasum, Bangladesh overlooked the right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed.

Bangladesh won against Oman and Papua New Guinea in Round 1 to confirm a Super 12s berth.

The Tigers will need to win at least three matches to march to the Semi-finals of this T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh never won a match in Super 12s level in the T20 World Cup before, and they never played at the Semi-final level of any World Cup at the senior level as well.

Bangladesh are playing in Group 1 of the Super 12s stage, where they will take on England, West Indies, South Africa, and Australia as well on October 27, 29 and November 2 and 4.
