Realme bags top spot in Bangladesh, marks 100 million sales of handsets globally

realme has become the fastest global smartphone brand ever to reach the milestone of 100 million smartphones sold globally in just three years, according to Strategy Analytics, a market research consultancy.

Meanwhile, youth-centric brand realme has snatched away the top position in Bangladesh smartphone market for the first time since it embarked on a phenomenal journey in the country in February 2020. It took only 5 quarters for realme to reach this milestone, said a press release.

This piece of information was revealed in the Canalys global smartphone shipment report in Q2 2021. The report also mentioned that realme has registered an annual growth of 258% in the Bangladesh smartphone market.

Prior to this achievement realme has also managed to earn some praises inthe last and current year. The realme C11 sold 3000 units in only 3 mins and realme 6 sold 1500 units in only 1 min making it one of the fastest-selling smartphones in Darazin 2020 among other records in e-commerce sites.

By the end of the year 2020, we became a favorite choice of the youth. In Daraz, we became the Top 1 Mobile brand in their Bangla New Year Campaign in 2021, also realme became Top 1 in Daraz 11.11 campaign last year.

Realme also became the Highest sold smartphone brand in Eid-ul-Azha 2020 in Daraz and in Picakboo became the best-selling brand of Ramadan 2020.

The 100-million milestone is the latest in line of realme’s spectacular global rise, as the company adds another ‘first’ to its name. The achievement has further validated realme’s sales and business strategies internationally.

Established only in 2018, realme is now the 7th largest smartphone brand with a presence in 61 different markets worldwide. Furthermore, realme has claimed the first place as smartphone maker in Philippines and Bangladesh, fourth in India and Russia, and fifth in the Europe region in Q2 2021.

Smartphone usage has been fundamentally redefined in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, as it catalyzed the development of new skills, remote working, communication with loved ones worldwide, and many similar activities.

However, the growing consequences of the crisis have had a ripple effect on every industry, and smartphones have been no exception. With sales and production halted for several months, the bottom lines of numerous manufacturers have been impacted profoundly. Despite the alarming economic challenges posed in 2020 and 2021, realme has cornered the high-specifications, low-cost smartphone market while recently sharing the news of its outstanding accomplishment.

Although smartphones were already becoming ubiquitous among young adults, the youth market was over-promised and underserved. realme utilized this niche market and emerged as a brand that specializes in serving youths and youth professionals. Since its launch, the company has developed high-quality, cutting-edge smartphones and AIoT technology at competition-beating prices, perfect for the tech-savvy young people.

Naturally, not everyone, and more specifically, not every youth, can afford high-end smartphones with flagship features. Hence, realme’s entry into the market has been a blessing in disguise for the juveniles. In brief, realme’s business has been uncompromisingly singular in the message: excellent value accompanied by premium features.

Phones and smartphones, in general, have played a crucial role in almost every culture for years. However, social distancing has redefined how people use phones due to growing contactless payments resulting in increased smartphone usage in direct proportion to mobile commerce.

Therefore, using asset-light and short channel strategies, realme was able to expand internationally at an exponential rate. The company focused on online distribution rather than building large-scale physical outlets.

Customers started opting for online shopping owing to contamination issues which became a massive advantage for the smartphone brand.

In addition to these, realme’s ‘Dare to Leap’ philosophy represents the unique attribute of the young generation as they grow, constantly surpass themselves, exceed limits, and refresh the rules. This unique personality of the company empowers employees to take risks, make their own decision, and place employee development at the forefront of business development.

Success and accomplishments mark greater goals and responsibilities. realme’s next goal is to achieve a dual-100 million target, by the end of 2022. The youth-centric smartphone brand plans to ship another 100 million handsets thus, completing the same milestone within the 2023 calendar year.

Currently, the company is developing a diverse portfolio of 5G products with an ambition to offer 100 million 5G phones to young customers in the coming three years. It will keep introducing smart devices in the forthcoming days to accelerate the implementation of 5G technology and ensure ‘5G for All’.

realme will also bring more AIoT products to youth users as it has entered AIoT 2.0 development phase accompanied by its advanced ‘1+5+T’ strategy.
