N’ganj gas cylinder blast: Death toll rises to 3

The death toll from the gas cylinder explosion in a vehicle at Aliganj in Fatullah of Narayanganj rose to three as another woman died in a hospital on Thursday.

Hasina Momtaz,48, who sustained 66 per cent burns, succumbed to her injuries at 4:30 pm at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery under Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Earlier on Monday, Judge Mia,50, another injured with 80 per cent burns and on Sunday night Md Alam Hossain,40, who sustained 100 per cent burns, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, said Dr Partha Sankar Paul, resident surgeon of the institute.

Currently, two more injured victims- Hasina Begum,40, and Hafsha,6- are undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said.

On Sunday, a gas cylinder of a vehicle exploded following a cigarette fire as some workers were repairing it behind a tin-shed house of Abdul Baten in Beparipara area of Fatullah’s Aliganj.

Seven occupants of the house were burnt in the blast while others suffered minor injuries
