A mechanic died of electrocution Sunday while repairing a lift at Bibirbagicha area in the city’s Jatrabari.
The deceased was identified as Aminul Islam Shafin, 20, resident of Sayedabad area.
The accident occurred around 11am and he was pronounced dead by the in-charge doctor of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as he was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious condition.
Shafin’s uncle Md Mohsin said he was electrocuted while working inside the lift at the ground floor of a 10-storied building in Jatrabari.
Shafin used to work as a mechanic in his uncle’s elevator company.
In-charge Inspector of DMCH police camp Bacchu Mia said the body was sent for an autopsy and the concerned police station was informed of the incident.
