Grameenphone has been awarded for resolving the highest number of cases through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in the fiscal year 2020-2021.

Jens Becker, CFO of Grameenphone, received the award at a ceremony organised by the Large Taxpayers Unit and Value Added Tax (LTU, VAT) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) as part of the VAT Week during December 10-15.

Wahida Rahman Chowdhury, the commissioner of LTU, VAT, chaired the event and handed over the award to Grameenphone.

ADR is a process of resolving disputes within the shortest possible time – beyond the traditional courses of business followed by appeal, tribunal, and court formalities – leading to efficiency.

“We are honoured and humbled to be awarded for resolving the highest number of cases through ADR, and we will continue to resolve the remaining issues together as one team,” said Jens.

“However, it would not have been possible without the support from the government in embracing technology, increasing efficiency through automation and encouraging a culture of transparency.”

This year the NBR is celebrating VAT Day and VAT Week to encourage people and organisations with the theme: “Pay VAT online, take part in nation-building.”
