People ready to observe Martyred Intellectuals Day in Rangpur

The people of Rangpur are ready to observe

the Martyred Intellectuals Day -2021 by paying tribute to martyred

intellectuals for their supreme sacrifice only a couple of days ahead of the

ultimate victory in 1971.

The divisional, district and police administrations, Rangpur Metropolitan

Police (RpMP), political parties, socio-cultural organizations and

educational institutions have taken programmes to observe the day in a

befitting manner.

The district and city Awami League (AL), Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee,

Shilpokola Academy, Begum Rokeya University, Carmichael College and other

educational institutions will also observe the day through day-long

programmes.

The observance will begin with placing wreaths at the ‘Shahid Muktijoddha

Smritistambha, hoisting of black flags and national flag at half-mast atop

all public and private buildings followed by other programmes since the

morning in the city.

High officials of the divisional and district level civil and police

administrations, freedom fighters, leaders of different political parties

including Awami League (AL), sociocultural and professional and other

organizations will place wreaths there in the morning.

The programmes also include wearing of black badges, placing wreaths at

mass graves, special munajats seeking divine blessings for departed souls of

the martyred intellectuals and discussions.

The district administration will organize a discussion and competitions on

drawing and essay writing for children marking the Martyred Intellectuals

Day.

The district and city units of AL and its associate bodies will observe

the day beginning with placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the

Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman followed by other programmes.

Led by President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and its General

Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu, leaders of district AL and its

associate bodies will hoist black flag and national flag at half-mast at the

district AL office premises.

Later, the district AL leaders along with leaders of different associate

bodies will place wreaths at ‘Shahid Muktijoddha Smritistambha’ at Surobhi

Uddyan and Bangabandhu’s Mural at Bangabandhu Square in the city.

With President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair, its General

Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu will address a discussion

to be arranged on the occasion at district AL office as the keynote speaker.

Leaders of the district and city units of AL and its associate bodies will

take part in the programmes.
