DNCC driver arrested over death of motorcycle passenger

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Friday arrested the driver of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) garbage disposal truck over the death of Ahsan Kabir Khan, 48, a printing-press businessman of Moghbazar in the city.

The detainee was identified as Mohammad Hanif, said a press release.

The details will be announced at a press conference at RAB’s media centre at Karwan Bazar on Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday, Kabir, a pillion passenger of a motorcycle, fell on the road opposite Bashundhara shopping mall before being overrun by the speeding truck around 2:30pm.

Golam Rabbani, a sub-inspector of Kalabagan police station, rescued him from the spot and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 4pm.
