BPL Football:Dhaka Abahani crush Sheikh Russel 5-1

Dhaka Abahani Ltd returned to winning run in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 in style crushing Sheikh Russel KC by 5-1 goals at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here on Tuesday.

Six times champions Dhaka Abahani, which conceded a 2-3 goals defeat against Saif Sporting Club in the previous match last Friday, today (Tuesday ) dominated the first half by 1-0 goal.

Despite the day ‘s well merited victory, Dhaka Abahani Ltd remained at the 3rd slot in the league table securing 43 points from 22 matches while Sheikh Russel KC also remained at 7th slot with 30 points from 21 matches.

Three times champions Sheikh Jamal DC are in the 2nd place securing 45 points from 21 outings while star studded Bashundhara Kings smartly clinched league title with four matches to spare and presently raises their tally to 58 points from 21 matches.

In the day’s match, Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba, Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto scored two goals each while Haitian forward Kervans Belfort netted one for the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani

Tajik defender Siyovush Asrorov scored the consolation goal for Sheikh Russel KC .

Sunday Chizoba put Abahani ahead in the 32nd minute (1-0) while Tajik defender Siyovush Asrorov leveled the margin for Sheikh Russel KC in the 64th minute (1-1).

Brazilian medio Raphael Augusto again put Abahani ahead in the 70th minute (2-1) while Haitian forward Kervens Belfort sounded the Abahani margin adding one more goal in the 80th minute (3-1).

Raphael Augusto further widen the Abahani tally scoring his 2nd goal in the 88th minute (4-1) while Sunday Chizoba sealed the fate of the netting his

In the day’s other, Rahmatganj MFS shocked Chittagong Abahani Ltd beating them by 2-0 goals at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani Tuesday afternoon.

Despite the day’s frustrating defeat, Chittagong Abahani Ltd are in the 4th slot in the league table with 40 points from 22 matches while Rahmatganj MFS advanced to the 9th place collecting 21 points from 21 encounters.

After a barren first half, Nigerian striker Felix Chidi Odili scored first for old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj in the 81st minute (1-0) while defender Mahmudul Hasan Kiron confirmed the Rahmatganj win scoring one more goal in the stoppage time of the match (2-0).
