BPL Football: Bashundhara Kings take solo lead beating Police FC 3-0

Last two times champions Bashundhara Kings made their debut memorial in their newly constructed home ground Bashundhara Kings Arena, outplaying Police FC by 3-0 goal in the 4th round match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football on Thursday.

With the match, Bashundhara Kings Arena/ Bashundhara Sports Complex, emerged as the country’s first privately-owned football ground to host a top level match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football.

The new BPL venue, situated in Block N of the Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital, owned by Bashundhara Group, was inaugurated on Thursday.

The stadium, which earlier used for the practice sessions and friendly matches of the Kings, today (Thursday) entered into history book by hosting the tier-one professional football league match.

Holders Kings , which were struggling in the 12 -team league after suffering 0-1 defeat in the league opener against newcomer Swadhinata KS, regained their rythem today to take a solo lead in the league table securing nine points from four matches.

After a barren result till the 65th minute of the day’s match , Brazilian striker cum Kings captain Robson Robinho relived their fans scoring two quick goals in span of only eleven minutes — 66th and 77th minutes respectively (2-0).

Later, Nigerian origin fresh Bangladeshi citizen Eleta Kingsley added one more goal for the ” all red” Bashundhara Kings just three minutes before the final whistle (3-0).

Esanur Rahman of Police FC got marching order after receiving double yellow cards in the match.

In the day’s other match, last time runners-up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club went down to the 2nd slot from top after playing 3-3 draw with Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society at the Sylhet District Stadium.

After the match, Sheikh Jamal DC bagged eight points from four outings to settle for the 2nd place while the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS opened their account with one point, also playing four matches.

Gambian attacking midfielder Solomon King struck twice for Sheikh Jamal DC in the 22nd and 44th minutes respectively to dominate the first half 2-0 while local defender Atikuzzaman scored the 3rd goal in the 74th minute.

Tajik defender Siyovush Asrori reduced the margin for Rahmatganj in the 68th minute from a penalty.

Nigerian striker Sunday Chizoba and Ivory Coast booter Lancine Touré scored two late goals for Rahmatganj in the 90th and 90+4 minutes respectively silencing the Sheikh Jamal fans (3-0).
