BNP leader Harris Chy dies of Covid

BNP leader Harris Chowdhury died at a hospital in the UK about three months ago, claimed family sources.

Ashiq Chowdhury, Harris Chowdhury’s cousin and chairman of Kanaighat upazila parishad, on Tuesday posted on his facebook profile that Harris died three months ago.

Ashiq said that Haris’s daughter Munnu Chowdhury informed him about her father’s death over the phone.

Harris was undergoing treatment at hospital in London after he tested positive for covid-19 in August last year. He also returned to his residence after being tested negative. However, he died after suffering from post covid complications, according to the Facebook post of Ashiq.

Ashiq said Harris was buried in London. He lived in London with his family. However he did not know where in London Harris had died.

Harris was the political secretary of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia during the tenure of the BNP-led four-party alliance. The leader fled soon after the BNP was ousted amid corruption allegations. He was sentenced to life in 2018 in the August 21 grenade attack case.
