B’baria UP chairman takes oath on parole

Monirul Islam, newly elected chairman of Talshahar East Union of Brahmanbaria Sadar Union Parishad was released on parole from jail on Thursday to take oath.

Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahgir Alam conducted the oath at his office.

Monirul, who has been in jail in a case of violence, was free from 10 am to 2 pm to enable him take the oath, police said.

The chairmen of 20 unions of Brahmanbaria Sadar and Vijaynagar upazilas were sworn in at that time.

Monirul was elected in the polls on January 5 while he was in jail.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Brahmanbaria Sadar MP R A M Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, District Awami League General Secretary Al Mamun Sarkar and Mayor Nair Kabir were also present on the occasion.
