Afghanistan men’s cricket team will compete in a two-match Twenty-20 International series against Bangladesh in March. The Bangladesh Cricket Board named their T20I squad for the forthcoming bilateral home series on Monday, (February 21). One of the best young players in the BPL 2022, Munim Shahriar has been picked up for the series. Afghanistan’s national team has already arrived in Bangladesh for the series. Bangladesh National Men’s Squad for the Afghanistan T20I Series 2022
The Bangladesh Cricket Board named a 14-man T20I squad for the upcoming series against Afghanistan on Monday. Munim Shahriar and Yasir Ali have been the two uncapped players selected by the BCB for the two-match series. Besides, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have returned to the team.
There was some doubt regarding Mohammad Naim’s inclusion in the team after a poor performance in the just-finished BPL season 8. However, Naim has been included in the series.
Some of the well-known stars in the Twenty20 team were left out after a poor showing in the Bangladesh Premier League. Akbar Ali, Aminul Islam, Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Nurul Hasan, and Shamim Hossain are among the players. Neither player was very impressive in the BPL T20 franchise competition.
Munim Shahriar has been selected for the squad because he had a successful BPL 2022 season for Fortune Barishal. Munim opened the innings for Barishal during the competition and dazzled everyone with his power hitting. Munim scored 178 runs in six innings with a 152.13 strike rate in the Bangladesh Premier League 2022. The middle-order batter for the Khulna Tigers, Yasir Ali has also been included, having made 219 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 139.49. Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Liton Das did not play in the Pakistan series in November 2021 after a disastrous T20 World Cup 2021 campaign. However, they have been picked for the Afghanistan series by the selectors. Mahmudullah Riyad-led Bangladesh will find it difficult to defeat Afghanistan in the BAN vs AFG T20I Series 2022.
