Two persons were killed and three others injured when a truck hit a cycle van on the Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway in the Chakai area of Dinajpur’s Birganj upazila on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Baser, son of Kafil Uddin, and Bachchu Mia, both residents of the upazila. The injured were also occupants of the same van.
“The accident occurred around 9pm when the truck coming from Thakurgaon district rammed the van carrying five people,” said Abdul Matin Prodhan, officer-in-charge of Birganj police station.
The crash left two persons dead on the spot, he said, adding that the injured were taken to a local hospital.
