Jatrabari cylinder blast: One more dies at Dhaka hospital

A 35-year-old man who sustained burns in a gas cylinder blast in the capital on Saturday, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital early on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Md Ripon, son of late Ali Hossain of Bhola district. On Sunday, another victim of the explosion, Bishwanath Dutta, 48, died at the hospital.

Dr SM Ayub Hossain of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said that Ripon sustained more than 60% burns in Saturday’s explosion and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

On Saturday afternoon, six people received burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded in a shop in the Sayedabad area of Jatrabari in the capital. They were all rushed to the Dhaka hospital.

The other injured people have been identified as Md Shafiqul Islam (50), Md Shamsuddin Robin (25), Md Abul Kalam (45) and Md Kabir Hossain (38).
