Dhaka: Zubaida Rahman, wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, and their daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, participated in an iftar gathering with orphan students at a women's madrasah in the capital on the first day of Ramadan. They attended the event at Jamia Qurbaniya Talimia Dawra Hadis Mohila Madrasah and Orphanage in West Bhashantek, which is located in the Dhaka-17 constituency represented by Tarique Rahman.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Zubaida and Zaima engaged with the orphan students before the iftar, inquiring about their well-being. The event was part of a broader initiative by local BNP leaders to ensure that residents of 14 orphanages and hifzia madrasahs in the Korail slum and Bhashantek areas receive iftar, dinner, and sehri throughout the month of Ramadan.
In the past, former BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and senior party leaders traditionally held iftar on the first day of Ramadan with orphans and Islamic scholars. However, no central programme was organized this year.
