Dhaka: Dr Zubaida Rahman, the vice president of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation and a cardiologist, today launched the ‘Shishu Swarga Model’ programme to provide healthcare and rehabilitation services for children with disabilities. She inaugurated the programme as the chief guest during a ceremony at Korail slum, organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, before the inauguration, Zubaida Rahman, who is also the wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, toured various stalls that showcased educational materials and daily essentials designed for children with special needs. The event featured State Minister for Health and Family Welfare MA Muhit as the chief speaker, alongside other notable figures such as State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, and State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin.
The function was presided over by Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry Md Quamruzzaman Chowdhury, with the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Director General Professor Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas in attendance. The seminar on the ‘Shishu Swarga Model’ also included speeches from UNICEF’s acting Representative in Bangladesh Stanley Gwavuya, RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md Reazul Islam, DNCC Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan, and the Prime Minister’s Assistant Personal Physician Dr ANM Monowarul Kadir (Bitu), who served as guests of honor. They emphasized the importance of healthcare and rehabilitation services for children with disabilities.
