Washington dc: Dr Zubaida Rahman, spouse of Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and a renowned cardiologist, has met US First Lady Melania Trump and other First Ladies on the sidelines of a global summit in the US. Dr Zubaida Rahman attended the summit in Washington DC at the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Zubaida Rahman participated in the 'Fostering the Future Together: Global Coalition Summit' held on March 24-25, 2026. More than 45 First Ladies and spouses of world leaders from various countries took part in this conference, which provided a platform for high-level dialogue on improving the welfare and potential of children worldwide. The summit was officially inaugurated by the US First Lady at the U.S. Department of State, where she delivered the opening remarks.
Dr Zubaida Rahman delivered a speech at the event, emphasizing the importance of caring for children and ensuring their development in a safe environment. She highlighted Bangladesh's initiatives, such as the Family Card and Farmer Card programs, and discussed progress in the education and health sectors. She also called for strengthening global cooperation to build an inclusive, tolerant, and prosperous future.
The event was attended by Academician Prof Dr Morshed Hasan Khan, Dr Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah, woman entrepreneur Mehnaz Mannan, Bangladesh Ambassador to the US Tareq Md Ariful Islam, and Deputy Chief of Mission DM Salahuddin Mahmud. The Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqul Rahman Rumon confirmed that Dr Zubaida Rahman met Melania Trump on March 25, exchanged greetings, and agreed to work together for the welfare of children.
Dr Zubaida Rahman thanked Melania Trump for organizing the conference and met with First Ladies of other countries. She participated in the closing session of the summit and joined a group photo session and reception. She was also interviewed on behalf of the White House and expressed Bangladesh's commitment to learning from global experiences to work for a brighter future for children worldwide.
The conference concluded with a special reception hosted by the US First Lady. An exhibition held on the sidelines of the conference featured innovative technologies and applications for improving children's education from 11 leading US technology companies, which Dr Zubaida and her delegation also visited.
