Dhaka: Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Vice-President of Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) and wife of BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, participated as the chief guest in an award distribution ceremony of the Virtual Science Fair at the ZRF office today. In her address to the children, teenagers, and young scientists present, Dr. Zubaida extended her congratulations to all contestants for their innovative science projects.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Zubaida also engaged in discussions with members of the ZRF Board of Directors and advisors. The event showcased a video documentary highlighting the various activities of the ZRF since its inception. Dr. Zubaida emphasized the significance of talent, perseverance, and self-reliance demonstrated by the young scientists, noting that their achievements have made a significant impression on all attendees.
The event was chaired by ZRF Executive Director Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Doner and moderated by Director (Program) Dr. Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah. Other notable speakers included ZRF Acting Executive Director Professor Dr. Morshed Hasan Khan, Professor Dr. A. F. M. Yusuf Haider, convener of the virtual science fair, and Special Coordinator Dr. SM Sohag Awal.
The Virtual Science Fair, organized for the past four years, aims to foster scientific innovation and inspire scientific practice among children, adolescents, and the new generation. Initiated by Dr. Zubaida Rahman, the fair awarded laptops and certificates to 17 winners. The Ziaur Rahman Foundation, established on October 18, 1999, in memory of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, continues to support youth and scientific endeavors through such initiatives.
