Zubaida Rahman Advocates for Opportunities to Unlock Children’s Potential

Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's wife and Vice-President of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for children to realize their potential, advocating for a safe and secure future for them.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Zubaida spoke at a discussion organized at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy in celebration of Children's Rights Day 2026 and the academy's 50th anniversary. She highlighted the academy's efforts over the past five decades to support children in developing their abilities, despite facing numerous challenges.

Dr. Zubaida praised the Bangladesh Shishu Academy for its role in nurturing talents in areas such as painting, music, dance, recitation, and literature. She announced plans for the academy to use modern technology to reach children across the country, continuing to serve as a platform for nurturing their dreams.

In her address to the children, she encouraged them to overcome obstacles and achieve their aspirations. She also called for a focus on ensuring safety and security for every child, expressing a wish for secure futures.

Dr. Zubaida also paid tribute to BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia for her contributions to children's rights, noting her role in expanding free primary education and opportunities for girls during her tenure as the country's first woman prime minister.

The discussion was chaired by Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain. Earlier, 150 children welcomed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Dr. Zubaida Rahman at the academy, where they enjoyed a cultural program and visited an exhibition of children's drawings and a photo gallery.
