Chattogram: Zika virus has been detected in two persons for the first time in Chattogram. Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed the detection, stating that the virus was identified in the bodies of two individuals at the city’s Epic Healthcare Lab. He mentioned that their detailed information has been collected, and treatment along with necessary measures will commence immediately.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Chowdhury announced that the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IDCR) has been informed about the detection. He emphasized that the results and decisions of further tests will depend on the directions provided by the IDCR.
Dr. Chowdhury has also urged the public to be vigilant and take preventive measures against mosquito-borne diseases, highlighting the importance of community awareness in controlling the spread of such diseases.
