Khulna: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultana Salahuddin Tuku today highlighted the inspirational role of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in declaring Bangladesh’s independence from the Kalurghat radio station on March 26, which motivated the nation to join the War of Liberation. She emphasized that this declaration was crucial for the country’s independence, attributing Ziaur Rahman’s leadership, patriotism, and courage as pivotal in the history of Bangladesh’s independence.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made these remarks at a discussion and doa mahfil organized by the district BNP at a community center, marking the 45th death anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman as the chief guest. She stated that Ziaur Rahman was a multifaceted personality whose contributions to the declaration of independence, the Liberation War, restoration of democracy, economic development, and protection of national interests continue to inspire the nation.
The state minister also expressed concerns about attempts by a political party to distort the true spirit of the Liberation War. She advocated for a Bangladesh where equality, justice, democracy, and human values are established. She urged everyone to uphold Ziaur Rahman’s patriotism, honesty, and ideals to build a corruption-free, self-reliant, and prosperous Bangladesh.
The meeting, chaired by district BNP President Hasanuzzaman Shahin, also featured speeches from former member secretary of district BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, former joint secretary Kazi Shafiqur Rahman Liton, former organizational secretary Shafiqur Rahman Shafiq, and sadar upazila BNP President Azgar Ali. The event was attended by leaders and activists from BNP, BNP’s Women wing, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Chhatra Dal, and Tanti Dal, and concluded with prayers for the eternal peace of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
