Jamalpur: Adviser to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former Cabinet Secretary ASM Abdul Halim today stated that Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had initiated the process of nation-building and development in Bangladesh. He emphasized that the founder of the BNP worked tirelessly for the country's economic growth and the freedom of its people until his death. Following his leadership, Begum Khaleda Zia continued to guide the nation towards achieving development goals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abdul Halim made these remarks while addressing a discussion marking Victory Day at the Islampur Upazila Auditorium in Jamalpur district. He alleged that terrorists linked to the ousted fascist government are currently active in creating anarchy ahead of the 13th parliamentary election. He urged BNP leaders and activists to remain vigilant against any terrorist activities.
Condemning the recent attack on Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, Abdul Halim demanded the immediate arrest and trial of those responsible. Referring to the upcoming parliamentary election, he requested voters to cast their ballots in favour of the BNP's electoral symbol, the sheaf of paddy, on February 12. The meeting was presided over by BNP leader Md Joynal Abedin Sarkar.
