Dhaka: State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin today emphasized the government's commitment to a zero tolerance policy against crime and extortion. He made this declaration while addressing a special law and order meeting organized by the Hathazari Upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the State Minister highlighted that any individual's criminal identity would be determined by their actions, not their political ties. He reassured that four individuals have already been apprehended in connection with recent extortion cases and that efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining suspects.
Mir Helal voiced concerns about individuals exploiting political party names to engage in criminal activities. He warned that anyone committing crimes under the guise of a political party would face legal consequences. Strict measures will be enforced against those involved in extortion, terrorism, or any social crimes under any party's name.
The State Minister instructed law enforcement agencies to take necessary legal actions along with organizational measures against those misusing party names for wrongful acts. He affirmed his longstanding support for the people of Hathazari, stating that for the past 19 years, he has been with them in both their joys and sorrows and will continue to do so.
Senior officials from the local administration, along with political leaders and activists, attended the meeting.
