Bagerhat: 27-year-old Nur Islam, who was shot on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Mollahat Upazila, has been transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Saturday in the Kahalpur Paschimpara area. Nur Islam, the son of freedom fighter Moazzem Hossain of Kuliya village, works as a salesman at Sheikh Traders in Mollahat Bazar.
Local sources reported that Nur Islam was returning home from Mollahat Bazar on his motorcycle after completing his work when he was unexpectedly shot. He fell on the highway along with his motorcycle, and passers-by quickly rescued him, rushing him to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex.
Dr. Farman, the duty doctor at the health complex, stated that the youth sustained three injuries, including gunshot wounds behind his ear and under his head, and also experienced a waist injury from the fall.
Due to the severity of his condition, Nur Islam was initially taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital before being transferred to DMCH for specialized care.
Mollahat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Ramjanul Haque confirmed that an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances and cause of the shooting.
