Dhaka:The Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad (JS), Barrister Kayser Kamal, emphasized the pivotal role of youth in shaping the future of Bangladesh. Speaking at the Bangladesh Youth Model United Nations (BYMUN) 2026 conference held in the LD Hall of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad, he stated that today's youth would lead the way in building a better Bangladesh characterized by the rule of law, transparency, accountability, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Future Bangladesh organized the two-day conference, which began today, gathering around 500 young delegates from over 200 educational institutions across all 64 districts. Kayser Kamal urged young people to look beyond academic achievements like GPA-5 grades and instead apply their talents and innovative thinking to contribute positively to the nation. He noted the importance of well-educated citizens who uphold human values and democratic principles.

Recalling the historical significance of youth in Bangladesh's major movements, the Deputy Speaker referenced a report from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, highlighting that many who were killed during the July-August 2024 mass uprising were young people. He pointed out that youth have consistently been at the forefront of movements aimed at upholding social dignity and ensuring equal opportunities.

Despite setbacks in various development indicators since 2006, Kayser Kamal expressed hope that with renewed efforts, Bangladesh could regain momentum and transform into a world-class nation. He encouraged students studying abroad to return and lead the country's progress, advocating for them to speak out against corruption and engage with parliamentary proceedings to understand policy-making.

The conference also featured addresses from Prime Minister's Adviser and PMO Spokesperson Mahdi Amin, Chief Coordinator for Sustainable Development Goals Affairs at the Prime Minister's Office Professor Dr. SM Abdul-Awal, and BRAC University Registrar Dr. David Doland.
