Meherpur: A youth was killed and another injured in a road accident in the Ashrafpur Bypass area of Sadar upazila this morning. The deceased was identified as Md. Lijon, 23, son of Mofizul Islam, who was a resident of Monakhali village in Mujibnagar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when a motorcycle collided head-on with a sand-laden dump truck due to dense fog. The impact of the collision left the bike rider, Lijon, dead on the spot, while the pillion passenger sustained injuries. The injured individual was subsequently taken to Meherpur General Hospital for treatment.
Officer-in-Charge of Meherpur Sadar Police Station, Humayun Kabir, confirmed the incident, highlighting the role of poor visibility caused by the fog as a contributing factor in the tragic accident.
