Chattogram: A man was arrested on the allegation of stealing goods from a container in a shed at Chattogram Port. Saiful Islam Rubel, 33, was caught with the stolen goods and Yaba from Shed No. 13 in the General Cargo Berth (GCB) area on Friday evening, said Port Secretary Omar Faruk.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, port officials reported that Saiful and some of his accomplices entered the premises with a truck on the pretense of transporting imported sheet coils for a private company. However, security footage revealed that Saiful and the others were breaking into the container, removing goods, and loading them onto the truck.
The port police stated that security personnel recovered seven rolls of clothes and four pieces of Yaba from Saiful's possession. The arrest highlights ongoing security challenges at the port and the effectiveness of surveillance systems in detecting criminal activities.
