Khulna:A young man was brutally hacked to death by unidentified assailants in the Labanchora area of Khulna city on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Shahidul Islam Colin, 35, was the son of Mahtab Uddin from the Dargah area.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Colin had returned to his family on Saturday afternoon after living mostly away from home. He left the house again around 730 pm. Later that night, at approximately 1130 pm, a local resident discovered him lying on the road about 500 yards from Kashemia Jame Mosque and informed his family.
Colin was subsequently taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharaf Hossain of Labanchora Police Station reported that Colin's body bore injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon.
Colin had a history of legal issues, with seven previous narcotics cases and one murder case filed against him. The police noted that he often stayed away from his family home, returning sporadically to visit his parents. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
