Yeijer Shoe Parts to Invest $5 Million in Cumilla EPZ

Dhaka: Yeijer Shoe Parts (BD) Ltd, a company based in Samoa-China (Taiwan), has signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a manufacturing facility for footwear and accessories at the Cumilla Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The agreement marks a significant investment of US$ 5.03 million for the production of insoles, outsoles, midsoles, and polyurethane (PU) shoes.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the agreement was formalized on May 20 at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director of Investment Promotion at BEPZA, signed the agreement on behalf of the authority, while Xia Ruihong, Managing Director of Yeijer Shoe Parts, represented the investing company. The signing ceremony was witnessed by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain.

Per the agreement, Yeijer Shoe Parts will produce 3 million pairs of insoles, 1.2 million pairs of outsoles, 3.2 million pairs of midsoles, and 1 million pairs of PU shoes annually. This venture is anticipated to create employment opportunities for 500 Bangladeshi nationals, contributing to the local economy and workforce development.

BEPZA Executive Chairman welcomed the investment from Yeijer Shoe Parts and assured full support from BEPZA to facilitate smooth and successful business operations within the zone. He also emphasized BEPZA's ongoing commitment to attracting diversified investment beyond the ready-made garment (RMG) sector, highlighting the authority's role in supporting various industries to thrive within Bangladesh's EPZs.
